Lucy is a graduate of the University of Western Australia (BA Hons 1999). She spent 8 years working in the federal public service, including several years in the International Cooperation Branch of the Department of Immigration in Canberra, and 4 years as a locally engaged staff member at the Australian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. Her main focus during this period was refugee policy and international migration. Returning to Australia in 2008, Lucy now works as senior research officer in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at UWA, and is also a Phd student. Her research interests include Australia's foreign policies and relationship with Indonesia, human rights, defence and strategic issues and the ANZUS alliance.
